As the longest night approaches, Solstice by the Sea invites the community to gather on the shores of Bathers Beach for a week-long celebration of winter, fire, food and connection.
Inspired by the traditions of the Winter Solstice, the festival brings together ocean rituals, art, music and family friendly experiences alongside fire cooked feasts, seasonal food and drinks.

Solstice by the Sea will feature a vibrant art exhibition showcasing the work of 12 local artists across a variety of mediums including acrylic, photography, digital art, illustration and watercolour.
Visitors can explore pieces by Giovanna Bontempi, Aria Tomlinson, Jess Henderson, Jo Riley, Sonja Della Vecchia, Georgia Derham, Geraldine Gustavino, Tina from Arthouse Fremantle, Nicole Albersdoerfer, MISHFIT and Kristie Rowe.
The exhibition celebrates the creativity of the Walyalup community and adds a rich visual dimension to the festival experience.
Saturday 20 June
Start the weekend with Cold Nips
Solstice by the Sea welcomes the Cold Nips crew for a special Saturday morning dedicated to renewal, reset and new beginnings.
Begin with yoga on the boardwalk overlooking Bathers Beach, followed by an invigorating swim led by Cold Nips, a community movement built around wellbeing and the simple joy of stepping outside your comfort zone. Embrace the elements and celebrate the winter solstice.

Afterwards, gather around the fire pits, warm up with cups of soup and hot chocolate, and share a moment of connection by the sea.

The Solstice
Join us to close out the festival with a celebration of the shortest day and longest night of the year. Gather by the ocean for a day of storytelling,, fire pits, family friendly activities and winter feasting by the beach.

Wishing Tree
to raise funds for Perth Children’s Hospital
During Solstice by the Sea, Bathers Beach House will host a Wishing Tree to raise funds for Perth Children’s Hospital. Guests are invited to leave a wish, message or contribution on the tree, creating a shared moment of reflection and hope. In the spirit of giving, contributions made at the Wishing Tree will support the hospital’s vital work, bringing joy and care to young patients while connecting the community.
